MY PHOTOGRAPHY JOURNEY
My passion for photography began when I recieved my first disposal camera to take along with me on school camp.
Each year that I attended camp, I would get another disposable camera until I recieved my first digital camera for my 12th birthday.
I later went on to recieve my first canon camera from my grandad, as he too loved documenting life (he lives in New Zealand surrounded by the most spectacular views, so how could he not?).
It wasn't until I started working that I bought my first proper DSLR that I've only just recently upgraded.
I took both art and photography electives in high school and attended The Academy of Design in 2014.
I went on to complete photography courses online and received a diploma in photo imaging from CATC in 2018 whilst working fulltime as a retail manager.
Despite all the studying, it wasn't until my eldest daughter was born that I FINALLY took the plunge to become a photographer.
Becoming a stay at home mum just months after COVID began, you could imagine how much time I had on my hands. I took hundreds of photos of my daughter and realised it was the perfect opportunity to take a risk on myself.
So after a few months of taking photos of my daughter, family and friends, I gained the confidence I needed and started advertising myself as a photographer.
It's been over a year since I officially became a photographer and I have since welcomed my second daughter.
As you can tell, I have always had a passion for photography but it wasn't until I started my family that I truly understood the need to document my life, not only for me but for my daughters.
I've already begun making their photo albums and I can't wait until we can relive those precious moments we've made together.
